Eventing

Aubusson and Genevieve entered the eventing world early in his career, doing theIan Stark train clinic and competitions including Berrima and Macarthur.

He was always a gem in the dressage, placing near the top, and clear and fast crosscountry.  However the pair often parted ways in the SJ, as Aubusson jumps so high and so big Genevieve had trouble staying on board!

At one Berrima event he was tied to the bull bar of thecar happily grazing when Victoria and Genevieve returned to the car they saw some people looking under his rug. They said they had thought he was a stallion; he was when we left was the reply. The passers by couldn't believe how quiet he was!

Show Jumping with Colleen BrookShow Jumping

Sydney ODE 2010For three winters Aubusson was placed in the talented hands of Colleen Brook,to see if she could harness his amazing jumping talents.

On the jumping circuit he proved talented and came home with a handful of firsts.

Colleen could never get over how quiet he was and what a gentleman he was for her. At competitions he was always tied at the back corner of the truck because he was the most easy going of all her horses.

Aubusson's talent for show jumping is passed on to many of his offspring.

Dressage

A Dressage star2010 Sydney ODETraining under Sally Ann Quigley (nee Gillis) during the later half of Aubusson's career, assisted in easing much of his tension and in harnessing his extravagant movement. He had a few dressage outings at Bowral, Goulburn, North Side and Illawarra with success.

At the age of seventeen Aubusson made an appearance at the Bowral Dressage Championships and was awarded 8s for both his canters and long rein walk, a testament to his wonderful paces, inherent suppleness and trainability.

Modelling

A Modelling CareerA model too.Aubusson has been a model too!

The perfect compliment to his versatile life. Featuring in the coffee table book 'High on Horses', after a photo shoot with Nicole Emanuel at Gwaihir Stud.

Also he starred in Hoofs and Horns magazine, making the cover and a three page spread. This was shot in Sydney 's CBD with Genevieve riding him down Castlereagh St and cantering through Hyde Park . Aubusson handled all the onlookers, buses, street cleaners and the camera with his fabulous calm and confident demeanour.

Testimonials

As a foal he was classified by Dr Ramsaeur (ACE Germany) as 'Premium Quality'.

Ian Stark (UK Olympic Eve nting representative) rode Aubusson at his first eventing clinic and was greatly admired by Stark.

"A phenomenal combination of his breeding, this is what an anglo should be," Gloria Lonigan commenting on Gwaihir Aubusson upon awarding him Australian Champion Anglo Arabian Stallion 1998.

"Craig Barret recently made the comment that Eloise was by far the best horse he has ever ridden cross country not only because of the size of her heart but because the arab in her meant she could go all day. So while he is sad to miss the ride on her this season, I have no doubt that he will be taking her 3 star when she has finished with her break."- owner Isobel King.
