Gwaihir Guylian is the full brother of Gwaihir Tryste. His currently owned by Sue Johnson, who emailed us the following in 2010:

I bought Rowley last year from a station home in Cowra where he had been their much loved family pet for 7 years.  His owner, Sandie Craig, trained and competed locally in dressage during the summer months and he rested up during the winter!  Sadly their stock horse developed arthritis and was no longer able to help with the cattle/sheep.....and Rowley considered them persona non-grata and would not entertain a lowly station in life as a stockhorse - even part-time - so he had to find a new home. 

Rowley is beautiful.  He has the Gwaihir stamp of substance and elegance.  He is a liver chestnut with a tiny star very much like his sire San Domingo.  He has the most devoted human loving personality - and has been trained softly and kindly in dressage, with an elegance of movement that even an inexperianced dressage rider such as myself can appreciate and most importantly for me he is a solid sensible mount on trail and Sydney city roads. Many a driver has had a shock to see him patiently waiting to cross the Eastern Arterial roundabout. 

Last year we were placed 6th in the SSJC Winter Shopwjumping Championships at 60cm at our first and only outing despite me needing to stop twice on the course due to asthma. He is keen to jump and is a man on a mission, but to the suprise of several watching he was willing to stop a few strides out from a jump, stand to let Mum have a breather and then calmly pop over the jump.   He will be joining Rain and Hail at Northside Riding Club - and we will be trying out the eventing (intro), jumping (low), dressage (prelim - unless he can teach me up to his elementary stage!)  and hacking phases - I think he will challenge the local circuit in Show Hunter.
